"SUNSHINE", Hatteras Island, North Carolina
Let the SUNSHINE in on your next Outer Banks vacation
The two-level sleeping wing at the back of the house is separated from the community areas to provide you with a secluded, peaceful sleeping environment.  Each bedroom has comfortable beds and a private bath.

The two first floor bedrooms are so acoustically separated from the game room that you won't even know a party is going on.

  • "Bubba's Den" has a king bed and has extra wall insulation for the snoring bear in your family.  It is paneled in wood for a cabin-like, north woods feeling.  (Actually, it was designed to be like the Danish cottages that Henrik, the owner, visited on the coast as a kid.)  The sliding doors lead to a screened-in porch.
  • "Just Beachy" has a queen bed and sturdy, built-in twin bunks.  It is painted a cheerful yellow and decorated in a flip-flop theme.  The bathroom has double sinks and an oversized tub.

The top floor has three bedrooms.
    • The "Surf" bunkroom is a favorite of all the children who stay at SUNSHINE.  When you sit on the floor of this dark blue room with an eighteen-foot ceiling, you may feel like you are at the bottom of the ocean.  The bunks are a full/twin and a twin/twin.  Both are sturdy, built-ins and have substantial headroom.  THERE IS ALSO A 5' by 12'  LOFT with television, DVD player and Playstation.  It might be hard to get your kids to come down from this special place.
    • "Dolphin" has a custom-built king bed and ceilings that slope from fourteen feet to eight feet.  The turquoise walls may remind you of the Hatteras ocean in the summer.  "Dolphin" has sliding glass doors that lead to a private sunning porch facing south east.
    • "Just Peachy" is painted peach, so for lack of a better name, we call it Just Peachy.  This is a queen/bunk suite with a double-sink bathroom.  The bunks are built in with extra head room.  Eight to fourteen foot sloping ceiling.
